Setup guide
Google Ads setup
Create and configure a Google Ads account for your dental practice, then connect it in Toothy so we can report on campaigns and (with your permission) manage ads on your behalf.

What you're setting up
Toothy connects to your existing Google Ads account via secure OAuth. You stay the owner of the account and billing relationship with Google. Toothy reads performance data and, when enabled by your Toothy team, can create or update campaigns in that account.
You do not need a separate “developer” or API project — that is handled by Toothy.
- 1
Sign in or create a Google account
Go to ads.google.com and sign in with the Google account that should own the practice's ads.
For multi-location groups, decide whether each location gets its own Google Ads customer account or whether you use one manager account (MCC) with child accounts per office. Either works with Toothy — we map each Google customer ID to the matching practice in Toothy.

Create your Google Ads account
Follow Google's setup wizard:
- Choose your main advertising goal (e.g. “Get more calls” or “Get more website visits”).
- Enter your practice name and website URL.
- Set your business location — use the address patients would recognize.

Switch to Expert mode (recommended)
In the top navigation, open the tools menu and confirm you can access Expert mode (full Ads interface) rather than only the simplified “Smart” view. Expert mode makes it easier to review campaigns Toothy publishes.

Add billing
Go to Tools & Settings → Billing → Settings and add a payment method. Google bills ad spend directly; Toothy does not charge your card for clicks.
Confirm the billing country and currency match where you run ads.

Note your Customer ID
In the top-right of Google Ads, you'll see a 10-digit Customer ID (often formatted as XXX-XXX-XXXX). You may need this on an onboarding call to confirm we connected the right account.

Multi-location? Consider a Manager account (MCC)
If you operate several offices, Google's Manager account (formerly “My Client Center”) lets you link separate customer accounts under one login:
- Visit Google Ads Manager accounts.
- Create a manager account for your dental group.
- Link or create a customer account for each practice location.
When connecting in Toothy, you'll map each customer ID to the correct practice.

Connect Google Ads in Toothy
Once your Google Ads account exists and billing is active:
- Sign in to Toothy → Settings → Practice.
- Under Connected Accounts, click Connect next to Google Ads.
- Sign in with the same Google account that has access to the customer account.
- Select the correct customer account if Google shows more than one.

Troubleshooting
“No accounts found” after connecting
The Google user you signed in with may not have access to the Ads customer. In Google Ads, go to Admin → Access and security and confirm your email is listed, or ask whoever created the account to invite you as Admin.
Account is suspended or under review
New accounts sometimes need identity or business verification. Resolve any banners in Google Ads before spending; Toothy can still connect, but campaigns won't serve until Google approves the account.
Wrong practice linked in Toothy
Disconnect and reconnect from Practice settings, or ask your Toothy contact to remap the customer ID to the correct location.
